Continuing his education at university, Monteiro studied Fashion Design in Melbourne where he launched his eponymous fashion label. Monteiro then made his way to New York in 2000 to become Design Director at Mayle.
In 2005 he became design director at Derek Lam designing Tod's RTW. Jeffrey describes his design aesthetic as, Simple, easy, functional and cool. They're pieces you don't have to think about too much you just pick them up and it all works together.
