In 2004, Adam decided to pursue his dream of designing his own collection. His desire to fuse fashion with the perfect white tee "began with a global search for manufacturers of the finest cottons, cashmeres, and wools. Adam launched his eponymous label, adampluseve, at Saks Fifth Avenue. Since then the business has grown from luxurious cotton basics into a full sportswear collection for men and women, now known as ADAM. Firmly rooted in the world of contemporary art and culture, ADAM is a fresh, polished and wearable designer collection. In August 2007, Adam was inducted as a member of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Adam staged his first formal runway show during New York's Fashion Week in September to great critical review, gracing the cover of Women's Wear Daily the following day. In the October issue of Vanity Fair, Adam was chosen as a member of their elite list, The Next Establishment, "named as one of the most important young designers of today. In December 2007, Adam opened his first freestanding boutique in Manhattan's trendy Meatpacking District where his men's and women's collections are currently showcased alongside a selection of hand picked lifestyle items.
Earlier this year, MANGO signed Adam to create limited edition collections for men and women, which are available in 1000 stores around the world known as ADAM for MANGO. Following his most recent collection, Style.com noted in their review that Lippes appears poised to become a torchbearer for a new generation in American sportswear. "Today the collection is available at the ADAM flagship store located in New York City, two free standing stores in Pennsylvania and Adam's hometown of Buffalo, New York, ADAM's e commerce site www.shopadam.com, as well as over 250 stores in 10 countries around the world, including Bergdorf Goodman, Jeffrey NY, Intermix, net a porter.com, Neiman Marcus, Scoop, Harrods and Tsum. Adam is 35 years old and divides his time between his New York City and Berkshire residences.
