Daren Carstens founded Carstens Studios Inc., where he authors, designs, programs and develops educational products for children. He has worked in K-12 educational publishing for 20 years, and his work has received many awards including the prestigious international Bologna Children's Book Fair New Media Prize in the Best Educational Software category. Daren's CD title "Math Arena" was chosen from over 900 entries from 15 countries for the Bologna New Media Prize because it "breaks new ground in the way that it makes complex and abstract concepts easier to understand."
Before starting Carstens Studios Inc., Daren worked for Ligature Inc., an educational development company. As the Multimedia Design Director at Ligature, Carstens was at the forefront of several innovative breakthroughs in conceiving and designing the architecture and visual presence of Web sites and multimedia products. He combines the rare talent of a thorough understanding of learning processes with the ability to produce interactive products. He is facile in various Web and interactive authoring tools. Carstens brings creativity and innovation to sound instructional products. He has consulted with a number of multimedia and educational developers, including Leap Frog, Jellyvision, Mojo Unlimited, Media Options, Cognitive Concepts and Sunburst Technologies. His print experience includes design for programs produced by Houghton Mifflin, Glencoe McGraw Hill, and Silver Burdett Ginn.
